“My previous experiences with JVC cameras have been really good, so that was part of the reason I choose to use the GY-HM700,” Eric comments. “It’s a lightweight shoulder-cam and it’s really easy to carry in my camera bag. What attracted me originally was the ability to use my older IDX Li-Ion Akkus with a V-Mount box and all the battery equipment. As the GY-HM700 records directly to .MOV files, I could begin editing immediately in Final Cut Pro and make previews to show customers.”Eric has recently finished work on a shortfilm, based on a teacher and his family who live in the secluded Bavarian Forest. Eric adds, “The film follows their struggles adapting to a new life in Munich once the father accepts a new position in the city. The film will air sometime next year on Munich TV and I’m currently in the process of editing the footage."
“During the shoot I was able to set the gamma and everything else I needed in the neatly-arranged menu. The customised buttons and separate customised menu were also useful, as I could directly change some of the more important settings. My customers often complement the picture quality of the GY-HM700 and I find the colour reproduction is better then other 1/3” CCD cameras. The focus assist on the camcorder really impressed me, as did the very sharp viewfinder and LCD monitor. I believe it is the best LCD screen I have seen on a professional camera like the GY-HM700. I was pleased with the overall performance of the camera and I look forward to using it on future projects.”
